The China Journal - Day 18

Through twisting mountain roads a single lane wide, the two Lauras and I journey north to the town of Danba in a small bus three times too small for the amount of people crammed inside. The imminent threat of rockslides and washouts is clearly apparent, as boulders of varying sizes scatter the road, and the occasional mountain stream smothers the pock-marked pavement, making it difficult for tires to grip.

In Danba, we fall asleep along the banks of the river coursing through the valley in an attempt to escape the heat of the afternoon sun.
